Interview with Anthony R Howard about: The Invisible Enemy and other upcoming works.

Charles Author’s Promoter:

Please welcome the best selling author,Anthony R Howard, an IT specialist of the highest calibre and a renowned story-weaver, author of The Invisible Enemy series. How are you today Anthony?

Anthony R Howard:

Doing, great Charles! and yourself?

Charles Author’s Promoter:

Well, worrying a little about this Invisible enemy. So lets start with the character that might keep me safe. Who is the Invisible Enemy’s enemy?

Anthony R Howard:

The Invisible Enemy is a triple metaphor. The reader decides who the real enemy is. Is it the CIA, is it terrorism, or is it technology, or is it our own politicians?

<— Quick interjection – Charles Author’s Promoter: That is a question the readers will have to answer. —>

We have people working to keep us safe…but what happens when they take matters into their own hands and throw away the constitution, the Geneva Convention, and human rights in the name of national security
It happens everyday, and The Invisible Enemy series takes you behind the scenes into the murky world of defense

Charles Author’s Promoter:

I am curious to know more about Dorian Valentine the reporter. What role does he play in the story?

Anthony R Howard:

Dorian is actually a woman. She breaks the story about a real secret (not fictional) that will bring America to its knees. Some dangerous people want to stop her at all costs from revealing this secret to the public
The CIA also wants to know how she got this secret, and they assemble a team off assassins to get the answers

Charles Author’s Promoter:

So Dorian takes us through the story and then that insight is going to leave us questioning right and wrong in a world of phenomenal plots and wild twists and turns?

Anthony R Howard:

Dorian is only one of the memorable characters. Many have found themselves aligning with the most unlikeliest of characters, such as Garett, a spy planted in the United states since he was a youth, but trained in the brutal training grounds in foreign lands to be a spy and an assassin.

Charles Author’s Promoter:

I have to ask, I know the name Dorian is derived from greek and means tempestuous weather, is this coincidental?

Anthony R Howard:

No. Not a coincidence. In fact, every name in this book has a meaning. For instance:
Garett’s true name from his homeland is Zyablikov, which comes from the Russian Etymology to freeze. Garret was thrown into the ice as part of his training to survive. He was given no food and no water. If he lived, he got to continue the training. He braved the iced and saved another child’s life, so he became known as “Iceman”, hence the name Zyablikov in the story.

Charles Author’s Promoter:

I have a feeling we are about to take a trip into your mind Anthony. You are an IT Super Hero, how much of this shows up in your story?

Anthony R Howard:

I have a deep background with the Dept of Defense and technology. Currently, I’m an advanced systems consultant for the Defense, Intelligence and Civilian space. I’ve been an advanced solutions consultant for over 12 years. I’ve worked on projects for desert storm and quite a few other programs worldwide that have saved American lives. I’ve won several awards and several case studies of my solutions have been published across the Information Technology industry. I’ve done a sizable amount of work for the U.S. Defense Sector, Department of Justice, and the Department of Homeland Security. I even relocated overseas to Amsterdam, The Netherlands for more than a year to solve technology issues for American based companies. This is in addition to the years of research and personal interviews I’ve done. I didn’t get my information from an encyclopedia, I got it from job experience.

Charles Author’s Promoter:

Wow. If I am getting the gist of the story right … you write in a way that the characters revolve around the story as opposed to the other way around. Each character has a solid story-line, meaning behind the name and so much creative juice. How do you keep all your well though out characters in order?

Anthony R Howard:

You have the gist. I keep the characters in order in 3 ways.

1st, when you bring a reader into a world (spies, defense) you need to create a character that intrigues the reader. Not the normal good guys vs bad guy. We’ve all seen that before. In the real world, people are not always just good and bad. They react to situations, so when you build 3 and 4 dimensional characters; the reader cannot forget, because of the story behind the character.

2nd
I want them to pick the book up and enjoy it, so I even have a character chart in the book created just for the reader to keep things in order just in case its needed. The spy networks are real, and I don’t want anyone worrying about character names and specialties, because I’ve already written them down for them

lastly, i don’t take 100 pages to build the plot. They are prepping gunplay on page 1. The reader has no choice but to pay attention:)

Charles Author’s Promoter:

Wow, that sounds awesome, I assume you use the same details during the writing process for yourself. How do you find time to do all this whilst still crushing mind boggling technological problems?

Anthony R Howard:

I have 2 passions. 1 is writing, the other is technology. I do spend vast amounts of time on technology, however writing isnt work to me. It’s fun and I enjoy it. Its a pleasure and a gift.

I can write almost anywhere. While others are wasting time on 4 hr flight delays, I’m working on dazzling my next reader

Charles Author’s Promoter:

Excellent use of your time. We, the readers, thank you for you efficiency. You currently have two novels in THE INVISIBLE ENEMY series, what’s next ?

Anthony R Howard:

There are two more projects besides the sequel, The Invisible Enemy II: Vendetta that just launched. I’m working on the 3rd book in the series which will discuss how social media is not what folks think it is, and I’ve completed a book Devil’s Diary: The Coming, a Biblical based novel on the coming of Christ.

Charles Author’s Promoter:

Wow so we have a lot more to read in the future from you, I doubt we can fit it all into one interview. I would really like a little more insight on the 3rd book in the series. Regarding social media.

Anthony R Howard:

most don’t know that social media is also used by law enforcement and intelligence agencies
You track your own every move. You tell who your freinds are and who you are with and when. You post timelines of your history that can be mapped to anyone else’s

Charles Author’s Promoter:

It is a rather novel idea; an intelligence departments dream. Get people talking were we can listen.

Anthony R Howard:

for free. no intelleigence dollars needed

Charles Author’s Promoter:

Will we see a data-mining solution of some sort being used?

Anthony R Howard:

it is already in play. I know because I helped design it. People think when they delete something off social media, its gone. No….its not.
Datamining for revenue purposes is already in play. Comanies track your social media happens by secretly placing files on your computer. They can then tailor every ad that pops up on your computer to your demographics, location, shopping habits, and spending tendancies

Charles Author’s Promoter:

So ad re-targeting is not just annoying; the same technology is tracking our every move, how do you mingle it in to your fast paced thrillers?

Charles Author’s Promoter:

Would I be correct in saying that whilst your novels may be seen as far-fetched-fiction they have a strong base in reality and are extremely plausible?

Anthony R Howard:

things we take for granted, like video surveillance, traffic cameras, drones, and even technology the reader has never heard of such as speed of light weapons, and gov’t agencies that were once classified the reader has never heard of they are not far fetched at all. It’s real, its happening now.
For instance, in 2010 the the FBI did catch Garret and his ring of spies.
They were trained, planted, recruited just like I wrote; their protocols, organizational structure and means of communication were exactly like I wrote (the 1st book The Invisible Enemy: Black Fox was published in 2010 a few months BEFORE the spies were caught — one of the spies looked the same in real life as in my book.

Charles Author’s Promoter:

So if I had to sum it up in one phrase it might be: ever so slightly exaggerated reality?

Anthony R Howard:

yes. the only exaggeration is that some of the technology i’m writing about is not not perfected yet. (but in prototype)

Charles Author’s Promoter:

There is a lot of talk about advanced technology, do you dumb it down a little for the rest of us?

Anthony R Howard:

of course. No reader wast to read a bunch a tech jargon they don’t understand. I explain to the reader how the tech works during the action scenes. then give it a fun name you can remember like “speed of light weapon”

Charles Author’s Promoter:

I am assuming the speed of light weapon is some advanced form of lazer?

Anthony R Howard:

yes, however the beam not only travels at the speed of light, but the artificial intelligence that controls it within the satellite computes at the speed of light, so cities can be decimated in seconds

Charles Author’s Promoter:

Holy, speed of light! we are talking Independence Day style lazers not little Star Wars lazer guns. Ok that caught me a little off guard.

Anthony R Howard:

yes. also prototypes to put this tech in hand guns. Imagine if a weopan had no sound, no visible beam, no traceable point of impact, or exit. Crazy indeed.
the target just falls over, and the autopsy would indicate a heart attack
Technology is one of the “invisible enemies”

Charles Author’s Promoter:

Anthony it is a pleasure to have you here today, I believe our readers will want to hear more from you in the future and we do invite them to post any questions they may have in the comments section below, we will endeavor to get them the answers. If you had to give readers one massive reason to read your series (I can see a few major reasons myself) what would it be?

Anthony R Howard:

Every person has a choice: They can be informed an know whats REALLY going on behind the scenes, or they can choose to believe what they are fed by propaganda machines. With the Invisible Enemy: Black Fox, you will be entertained as well as informed. It’s not a book you will walk away from and be the same person you were when you picked it up.

Charles Author’s Promoter:

From what you have told us today I believe you. I must say I have never read your books but I am already rather hooked into the plot. I would like to thank you for your time and for sharing these great insights with our readers. Thank you Author Anthony R Howard.
